Hey! I’ve recently switched career paths from starving grad student to starving artist. (More about my decision to try to break into science journalism, here.) Who know over-educated people get paid squat in radio too. As a side-hustle I’m trying to sell some neuroscience and science inspired t-shirt and clothing.

Buy some for your own wardrobe or a lion or witch you know. I’m hoping that these will make great graduation presents, presents for your PI or lab-mates, or gifts for nerdy friends.

New Designs

I just made a new set of biology t-shirts, rep your lab’s model organism, as America’s next top model and in the process raise public understanding of how science is done. Perhaps the conversation about your drosophila t-shirt with the cutie in the coffeeshop, will help immunize or society against claim’s like Sarah Palin’s: “[tax] dollars go to projects that have little or nothing to do with the public good — things like fruit fly research… I kid you not.”

Biology t-shirts, mugs, and gifts!

So there we go, the new line of biology t-shirts–model organisms: arabidopsis, c. elegans, drosophila, mice, rats, yeast, zebra finches, zebra fish! (Who would’ve guessed two model organisms would have zebra in their names and neither would be zebras?)

Did your model organism not make the list? Sorry, you probably should’ve named it after a zebra… No, if you want a shirt for another organism leave a comment below and I’ll try to whip something up 🙂

Still experimenting with which site makes the most sense. Here are some neuroscience t-shirts I put up on Teespring. They’re a limited run, so if you want one order now!

The Purkinje cell shirt , my favorite cell, in resplendent colors. Joy condition, a classical conditioning joy division parody shirt. the X-ray crystallograph that solved the structure of DNA (and one of the greatest riddles in life, with the quote on the back: “It has not escaped our notice that the specific pairing we have postulated immediately suggests a possible copying mechanism for the genetic material.”” , and last but not least an iridescent hippocampus.
